Restaurants, etc.

Chinese Cuisine
Jong Mea, Mansfield, Ohio, USA -- best egg rolls ever -- disappeared, maybe moved to Columbus, Ohio -- verified:  they disappeared from Columbus as well -- if anyone knows where they went, please e-mail me:  rtanney@netscape.net
China Town, Fürth (bei Nürnberg), Germany -- excellent!  Best Chinese food east of the big ditch
Yuan's, across from the Airport Hilton, Arlington, Virginia, USA -- lazy susan on table, so it's easy to share --- Closed!
The Bean Sprout, San Antonio, Texas -- hot Chinese, excellent

German Cuisine
The Loghaus, New Braunfels, Texas -- may have closed -- it was northbound near Schwab Road -- genuine German fare

Mexican Cuisine
Rosita's, Killeen, Texas, USA -- the best Mexican food I have ever tasted!  You need a reservation for lunch, so call ahead.
El Gringo's, Heidelberg, Germany -- Excellent chili con carne
Bodega Mexicana, Nürnberg, Germany -- the Krabben Mexicana is delicious, and the menu's are shaped like cacti (I will scan copies of the menus one of these days, probably not before March, 2000)

Home Cooking
Brown's Restaurant, Oxford or Cambridge, England -- highly recommended.
United Seamen's' Service, Bremerhaven, Germany -- like eating at home, or at least in a diner not far down the road.

Steak/Lobster
Helen's, Machias, Maine, USA -- the sautéed lobster is superior, none better!  They call it Lazy Lobster.
The Buffalo, Mannheim, Germany -- surf and turf -- my favorite salad bar (make your own dressing!), good lobster and steak
Portofino, 526 23rd St. S, Arlington, VA 22202 , USA -- ask for the Filetto alla Da Vinci -- you won't regret it!  http://yp.washingtonpost.com/yp/portofino/
Die Guldene Schaff, Heidelberg, Germany -- if they still have the same chef, this is a place you would go to for the sauces alone -- try the Pfeffersteak!
L'Etoile, San Antonio, Texas, USA -- some of the finest in French cuisine.
Grey Moss Inn, Helotes, Texas, USA -- very fine -- like an American version of Guldene Schaff!
Herrings, Herrings, New York -- the Texas Monster! or a porterhouse, which is half the size.

Hamburgers (Deluxe)
Chester's Hamburgers, San Antonio, Texas, USA -- good sandwiches, great beer.
Players (on Guadalupe), Austin, Texas, USA -- best burgers.

Miscellaneous
Parrot's Pub, Rue de l'Ancien Comedie, Paris, France -- open 24 hours a day, every day, a seven-story pub -- over 250 different beers on the menu, only one from North America - Canadian Carling Black Label - the best beer is the EKU Urtyp 28, which used to be designated Kulminator -- they are co-located with an excellent restaurant.
Boardwalk Bistro, on Broadway in San Antonio, Texas -- they don't make their own beer any more, but the menu is superb.
Cheers at Logan Airport -- they didn't know my name

This page will be updated!  It will have menu pix!
