The Trail Runner’s Vow

By Peter Keeney

1. I will vow to have fun. 2. I vow to Respect all other trail users. 3. We will follow the basic principle of the LNT philosophy, which is staying on the marked trail at all, times and not taking home any souvenirs. 4. I will Conduct myself in a friendly manner at all times and remain non-confrontation. 5. I vow if asked by anyone what you are doing. I will simply answer/ state that I am out for a run. 6. I vow if asked by anyone “You do not know of any organized event or organizer of this event.” 7. Keep Going! If anyone tells you to stop running or if any person confronts/ threatens/ or tells you can’t run, Don’t Stop. 8. Remember you have right’s as a “trail user” and should not be excluded or singled out from using the trails on public land. 9. Represent trail running positively. 10. Encourage and support all volunteers and support along the course.

I understand this is a run on “trails” not a road race and that I have trained sufficiently to complete this event. I have made the proper preparations for being outdoors for up two three hours or more and understand that if I decide to quit that I will let the finish area know before leaving to go home.
